Not all options are clear and straightforward about their prices, conditions, etc. So, you may invest a lot of time creating and adjusting the perfect logo only to find out at the end that their pricing packages don’t fit your budget or needs.

To help you with that, I spent many hours trying the most popular platforms to give you the whole scoop.

The main thing I found is that almost none of these platforms are just AI logo generators. So, choosing the right one goes beyond the logo, and it will depend on what other services you might need.

If you don’t need anything else, look for the ones who offer one-time purchases because not all of them will sell you just the logo without subscribing to their services.

So, it’s a bit tricky to navigate the offer of AI logo generators, but hopefully, I’ve made things easier for you with this roundup.

If there’s one piece of advice I can give you after all this research, it would be that you must check the resolution, file types, and whether you’ll have full ownership before buying a logo or a subscription.

Looka

Looka is advertised as a free logo generator. I thought this meant I could generate a logo and download it – maybe with a low-res limitation or something.

I was disappointed to learn that Looka allows you to generate and customize your design as much as you want, but you can only use your logo if you pay for it or subscribe.

So, the slogan is quite literal – it’s a free generator, but it doesn’t give you a free logo. Which is fair, it’s just not what I was expecting. Am I the only one who misunderstood?

If you see their promo video on YouTube, it’s much clearer that you don’t pay until you’re happy – not that it’s free.

Having said that, there isn’t any disappointment in the product itself. It’s easy to use, fast, and reactive, and you have both AI suggestions and customization tools every step of the way.

You can start using Looka without even creating an account. However, if you log in, you can save as many logos as you want and return to find everything there waiting for you until you’re ready to pay.

Either way, you start by providing background info like your name, industry, and slogan. Then, you give it an idea of your taste by choosing your favorites from a selection of logos, colors, and symbols.

After that, Looka generates over 20 logos for you to choose from, with the possibility of loading more. My impression of this first selection is that most logos achieved the overall feeling I sought.

However, the color palette wasn’t very accurate. Most logos had colors I never picked. In particular, it proposed many golden elements, which I dislike. Of course, the AI doesn’t know I dislike gold, but there was no reason it should think I like it either – I didn’t choose anything gold during the first steps.

You shouldn’t fixate too much on these things, though – you can customize everything later. So, choose the one that seems like the best starting point. Once inside the editor, you can spend hours experimenting. It’s best to have a good base to avoid wasting too much time.

Once you choose a logo, it will open in the Editor workspace. I found it to have a clean design and intuitive interface – so you’ll immediately get the hang of it as I did.

There’s a “Suggested” section where you have other ready-made choices. Otherwise, you can navigate the menu on the left to customize each part of your design.

You’ll find AI-generated choices and customization tools on each of them, so you get the best of both worlds.

All changes are immediately reflected in the design, which makes it a joy to use and encourages you to keep clicking and designing. If there’s something you don’t like, click Undo.

I have to say that I really enjoyed using Looka, and I absolutely recommend it – if you opt for the second tier, which offers excellent value for money. The basic $20 for a low-res logo that you can’t change and won’t own doesn’t seem like the most useful option.

Canva 

Usually, I love using Canva because it’s so easy and delivers great results, but this wasn’t the case for the new AI Logo Generator.

The first thing you need to do is to create an account – you can’t use this Canva feature as a guest. This isn’t something I particularly love, but it’s understandable because it runs on generative credits – so they have to keep count.

The good news is that you can use it with a free account, and you’ll get 20 credits. You’ll need to upgrade to a Pro membership if you need more.

Once you log in, you can start creating. Unfortunately, this is where you realize there isn’t a dedicated AI logo generator – instead, it’s a generative AI tool.

In any case, I decided to try it – maybe it wouldn’t be a problem. In the prompt, I typed all the info that Looka or traditional Logo creators ask for, such as the company’s name, slogan, and industry.

Then, you can choose a style. I left it under the default ‘Smart’ for the first try. Then, I tried a couple of other styles.

The generator works very quickly, and it gives you four variations. You can either download or move on to the Canva photo editor to use your newly created logo on a design project. I liked that you can use all four without getting discounted credits.

However, I find two major problems with the fact that Canva features a Generative AI tool as an AI logo Generator. First, it generates a flattened image – therefore, you can’t edit the text, icons, and background separately.

Secondly, like all AI generators, it has problems with text. While the text was correct in the variations with the ‘Smart’ style, it wasn’t in most other style variations.

Look at the text on these logos.

Another thing that I didn’t appreciate is that whenever you go against their guidelines or T&C, it doesn’t give you an error message like Photoshop and other AI generators do.

Instead, it generates an alternative design that omits the restricted content. Of course, it’s not a problem that it prevents you from using the generator in an inappropriate way. The problem is that it still uses your credits to generate something that’s not what you asked for.

In conclusion, while you may get a nice logo for free from Canva, it doesn’t give you enough room for customizing.

Having said that, you get 20 credits for free, and each one of them will give you four variations. With 80 free logos, there’s a good chance that you’ll find the ideal one without needing to customize it.

A word to the wise, though: stick to images, shapes, or forms. Then, add the text separately in the editor – especially if you’re adding a slogan or longer phrases.

Tailor Brands

Tailor Brands is a business-building platform, and it has an AI logo generator that you can try for free.

Before investing time in it, I checked what they meant by “Try for free.” It means that you’ll be able to download a low-resolution version of it, but to get the high-resolution version, you’ll need to pay.

It starts by asking for the background info – you can go more in-depth than you can with Looka.

Next, it gave me some choices for the type of logo, the icons, and the text style to mark my favorites. In this case, it offers fewer options than Looka.

Once you’re done, it asks you to create an account to see the results. I didn’t particularly appreciate that they waited until this point to tell you that you’ll need an account. In any case, it was pretty easy – they didn’t ask for much information.

I was very pleased by the results – they certainly look more original than other generators. Often, the problem with using traditional or AI generators is that your logo ends up too similar to everything else on the market.

I didn’t get that feeling with the options I got from the Taylor Brands generator.

The layout is different from other software I’ve used. To get the first variation in the top center, scroll down, and you’ll see it used in products with different mock-up photos.

To see other variations, you should scroll down the left column, and clicking on them will update the mockups in the central part. You can click “See More” at the bottom of the column to generate more results.

Once you choose an option, you can either Love it or Customize it. I decided to customize it to see how many tools it has.

I was disappointed to see that you can’t manually change anything. Each element can be adjusted separately, but only by the options provided by the software – which aren’t as many as I would’ve hoped.

So, does Taylor Brands work? Yes, you can use their AI logo generator to create and download your logo. However, it’s not the best option if this is all you need.

I’m not only referring to the AI generative results but also to the price. Tailor Brands doesn’t sell single logos like Looka, so you need to get an annual subscription. Plus, the vector file of the logo is only available on the second-tier plan.

So, why choose Tailor Brands logo generator? The great advantage of Tailor Brands is that it allows you to handle all your business on the same platform, from creating a logo to setting up an e-shop.

They also provide services for getting licenses, permits, business insurance, trademarking your logo, and more.

So, if you need a complete solution, it does have a lot to offer.

Wix Logo Maker

I already know Wix from its website builder, so I went into it confident that the AI logo generator would be easy and fun to use and probably give me great results.

So, the first thing you need to do is create an account. You can’t use it as a guest; fortunately, it’s free. I already had one, so it wasn’t an issue for me.

The first thing I noticed that differentiated Wix from the others is that it allowed me to create my logo by chatting with AI or going ahead without it. I first opted to do it without to compare with the other generators on this list.

The method was pretty similar to others, where I had to provide the background info, and it asked me for the “vibe” I wanted it to have. There weren’t any inspiration samples or anything.

I liked that it had an AI text generator to help me with the name and tagline.

It generates many fully customizable options, and it immediately creates mock-ups for you to see how the logo looks on a website, business card, merch, etc.

Before discussing the editor, let me tell you what happens if you use the AI chat. It asked me the same basic questions as the other version – which are also the same as any other generator.

You can rely on AI text generation throughout the entire chat to re-type or help you answer. The biggest difference, though, is that at the end, it asks if there’s anything else you want to say.

So, unlike any other generators, you can tell it what you like and dislike, among other things. It also used the information to create a brand logo briefing that proposes a target audience and a color palette. Then, it generates some logos.

Despite giving it the same information, the results it generated for me were quite different – maybe because of the “vibe” question in the first method.

Whatever method you choose, you can accept the logo as it is or go into the editor to customize it. I, of course, went to the editor. Here, you can adjust anything, including settings unavailable in other generators, such as letter spacing.

The interface is highly intuitive and easy to use. However, it doesn’t give you more AI suggestions – which is why Looka was so much fun. Nonetheless, you can spend hours experimenting.

You can preview your logo on a website mockup, and once you like it, you can finish your project. At this point, you’ll have the following options.

First, download a low-resolution PNG version of the logo to try it out for free. Secondly, purchase the logo with a one-off payment, which can be the standard or the extended package starting at US$20. Lastly, subscribe to an annual plan for $60.

Alternatively, you can opt for a logo+online presence membership starting at $9.59 monthly.

Another thing I love about Wix is that it offers the option to hire a designer for your logo. Let’s not forget that AI tools are excellent, but they don’t replace the work of a professional. If you have the budget, I encourage you to hire one.

I highly recommend Wix; it’s fun to use, and it has an extremely high level of customization. As for the cost, it’s the best offer for a one-off purchase of a high-resolution logo.

DesignHill

DesignHill is a creative marketplace. So, once you create your design, you can use it on merchandise, stationary items, and more and order them right from the same website.

The AI logo generator is free to use, but you won’t be able to download your creation without a purchase – not even in low resolution.

You start by inputting all your information, as with all the other generators. Interestingly, it asks your budget and how many people are in your company.

However, whatever you put in the budget doesn’t change anything. I tried with $0 and another two tiers, and the options are the same for both the generator tools and assets as the plans and pricing at the end. That’s fine, but why do they ask then?

As a first-time user, I got a pop-up that gave me a discount code. So, that’s a plus – and I could use the platform as a guest without creating any accounts.

The interface is intuitive and easy to use. The editor offers multiple options to refine the results as much as you want, and every tool offers more AI suggestions.

If you’re not getting to a place where you’re satisfied, you can click on “More ideas,” and it will generate other logos based on the information you gave at first but different from the logo you’re working on right now. I find this a great time-saver as you don’t have to start over every time.

There’s also a “History” button to go back to where you were more satisfied with the logo and pick up from there to make different adjustments.

The AI logo generator works very well, but $15 for a basic resolution file that doesn’t grant you full ownership is too expensive – even if it’s less than Looka.

However, I do like that the third and most expensive tier offers the possibility to customize your logo with one of their in-house designers. This is certainly a valuable option and one of the most affordable ways to get professional input into your logo.

So, if you have the budget for the Enterprise package, then the AI logo generator from DesignHill is a great choice.

Logomaster.ai

If you’re looking for a platform that’s only an AI logo generator, then Logomaster.ai is for you.

Unlike all the previous suggestions on this list, the AI logo generator is not a tool included as part of a more extensive service. You can’t buy any marketing packages, website hosting, or any other service with Logomaster.ai – although they’re partnered with Wix for website building.

This makes Logomaster.ai a very straightforward site with clear pricing plans. There are three tiers starting at US$29 – all of them are one-off fees.

You can use the AI logo generator for free without creating an account. Throughout the process, you’ll always see their watermark on the logo. When you’re finished, you can’t download your creation – not even in low resolution or with the watermark.

If you don’t mind this, the logo creation is easy and intuitive.

As usual, you’ll start by giving it some background information and choosing your favorite logos from a selection so it knows what you like.

I appreciated that it starts by asking you to choose a category between personal branding, start-up, company, and business. This information hasn’t come up in any of the other generators, but I believe it may be helpful.

After completing this process, you receive ten proposals to choose from so you can proceed to fine-tuning. You can ask for another ten until you find one you like.

The proposals are shown on a white background and with a colored background. This is because the basic plan (the first tier of $29) doesn’t include color backgrounds.

This is something I didn’t appreciate. I understand that being a platform that only makes money from selling the logo, they have to add perks to have different tiers – but does it have to be something as basic as the color?

To get all the colors available, you have to go to the third tier, which costs $129. Of course, it also has more perks, but it’s way too expensive IMO.

Back to the editor. It doesn’t have many tools, and the options provided by the AI are pretty basic compared to what you can do with the other generators I’ve recommended on this list.

However, I found something very valuable that I haven’t seen in others – AI assistance.

You can ask for friendly feedback and professional advice. These tools will tell you if your design communicates what you want or if you’re sending the wrong message. It also tells you how you can improve it and gives you a rank.

After making changes, you can update the feedback to see if you’re going in the right direction. This added feature helps to ensure you’re creating a meaningful and memorable logo for your brand.

This service has a cap of 30 requests per hour – but it’s free. This way, you’ll be 100% sure of your logo before buying it.

As a final step, you can preview the design in different mockup photos to see how it looks on merch, websites, smartphones, business signs, etc.

I think the service is quite good and the interface is intuitive. However, I find it too expensive for the limited variety of designs available.

Nonetheless, I suggest you try it because the AI assistant is very useful, and it may be just what makes it worth the cost for you.

ChatGPT

You probably didn’t know that you can use ChatGPT as an AI logo generator – I didn’t before writing this article.

Before you invest too much time in it, you should be aware of its limitations. You won’t have the rights to the logo you generate or the possibility to buy them.

However, it’s an easy and free way to generate a logo you can use for presentations or as a starting point for a designer to build upon.

If you want to use ChatGPT to generate a logo, simply ask it what information you should type. Then, it will respond with the instructions.

Otherwise, you can directly type a prompt such as “I need a logo for a company called X …”

After that, you can ask it to refine the results. You’ll probably need many tries to get it right, and you only have three per day if you have a free account.

If you decide to subscribe, it costs $20 per month. However, I don’t suggest you do it if your only use for it is a logo generator. Only subscribe if you need it for other types of image generation or because you want to use its fastest and most developed chat version.
