Inside My Camera Bag | Ivan Genasi

Hello, I am Ivan Genasi, a professional photographer based in Milan, Italy, and my commercial photography work is within the beauty industry for many cosmetics clients.

In contrast, my other passions are landscape and portrait photography, both analog.

I started my career assisting many great photographers in the fashion industry, like Camilla Akrans, Peter Lindbergh, Annie Leibovitz, Mario Sorrenti, Mert Atlas and Marcus Pigott, Gianni Pezzani, and Giampaolo Sgura.

I started exploring photography when I was eighteen, and I have always been fascinated by this never-ending way to express myself.

My master photographers to follow are Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon, Ansel Adams, Albert Watson, and Jacques Olivar.

For commercial jobs, I shoot ninety-nine percent in digital and use Canon cameras and lenses. I feel very comfortable with this brand and have never been disappointed.

I started with the Canon EOS T90 many years ago, and currently, I’m using the new Canon EOS R5 with my EF lenses and adaptor.

When clients require much larger files, I rent a Phase One Camera with Digital Back.

I use medium and large format cameras for my landscape and portrait work: the Chamonix 45 F2 for four by five, and Hasselblad 503 CW and Hasselblad SWC for one twenty film.

I shoot with Ilford Delta 100 for landscape and Ilford Fp4 for portraits. My negatives are self-developed and scanned with Epson V 850 Pro.

My camera collection:

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV – a heavy but loyal friend for everyday jobs.

Canon EOS R5 – fantastic autofocus machine, never miss a shot.

Chamonix 45 F2 – just a beautiful camera, light enough to climb the mountains, easy to use with Canon Battery Grip.

My digital lens collection:

Canon EF 100 mm f/2.8 L Macro – a must for my commercial work, showing every detail of the client’s products.

Canon EF 85mm f/1.4 L – razor-sharp lens for portraits.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L – a very bright lens that can save your day.

Canon EF 17-35mm f/2.8 L – sometimes you need that wide view.

My analog lens collection:

Schneider Super Angulon 90mm f/8 – a wide angle for my landscapes.

Schneider APO Symmar 150mm f/5.6 – fantastic colors from this lens.

Nikkor W 180mm f/5.6 – a razor sharp lens.

Fujinon W 250mm f/6.3 – I love Fujinon lenses.

Fujinon T 300mm f/8 – a telephoto lens is always a good idea on large format.

Nikkor M 300mm f/9 – this a light, razor-sharp lens.

Fujinon T 400mm f/8 – is another sharp lens I love using.

I have found these bags the best for getting around with my gear:
